Getting Married in Europe

Have you "tied the knot" overseas? Planning a wedding can be challenging enough, but getting married in a foreign country adds new challenges: finding an officiant, planning the menu, convincing your travel-leary family and friends to go, legal red tape, etc.

Italian Wedding
We have just returned from our wedding and honeymoon in Tuscany, Italy. We had an outdoor ceremony at a gorgeous Villa close to Florence with 40 guests.

We hired a wedding planner based in Tuscany, Chiara from www.weddingsintuscany.info. I can't express my thanks enough to Chiara and her team for creating the wedding of our dreams and making our day so memorable.

I would definitely recommend getting married in Tuscany, the colors, sights, tastes & people are magical. We are heading back there for our 1st year anniversary.

Paris wedding
My fiance and I will be getting married in Paris in late 2009. I first visited the city in September of 2008 and I was blown away by the beauty and history of Paris. There are 60 guests who will be joining us and we have a planner based in Paris.

Irish Wedding
If anyone is considering an Irish wedding, I'd like to recommend Anne Lanier, www.annelanierweddings.com. Our wedding in Ballyvaughan was spectacular! Our guests are still raving! We were married at Newtown Castle Tower and the reception was at Gregan's Castle. While in Ireland we stayed in Doolin. Daly's guesthouse and Roadford House are fabulous places to make your homebase.

Wedding in Sorrento, Italia!
Hi everyone, I was just browsing and thought I'd drop a note to say I had some great advice on this site for my wedding on the Amalfi Coast in Italy. We did look at many different opportunities and eventually I employed the assistance of a wonderful lady from www.laurarussoweddings.com. For over 100 of us I think we were very lucky everything went so smoothly, we had a stunning venue overlooking the ocean and the weather was just fantastic!

Best of luck to all and feel free to drop my an email if you like.

French Castle wedding
Our dream wedding came true!

I have always loved old authentic Castles - they are very romantic and can tell a story. A few years back I read about this American lady Belle Skinner who before the 1st world war fell in love with this French town Hattonchâtel and it´s beautiful Castle Hattonchâtel Cateau. After the war she restored it for her own money and got a medal of honour for her generosity from the french authority.

We would love to visit the Castle and the area with "the golden City" Metz, Nancy and Verdun (well known from the 1st world war). We contacted the Château which was very helpful - and then the idea was born! We wanted to get married at this magnificent Castle! The staff helped us planning the wedding and the days around it and for no charge. (what more can you ask for)?

We just got married in the church next door and had our small intimate wedding party at the Castle. We had rented the Castle exclusively for 4 days - it was a dream come true.

After the wedding we went to Tenerife where we are spending our honeymoon at Ritz-tenerife. It´s owned by the same company.

And Tenerife - that´s where I am sitting writing this letter from, enjoying a drink on our terrace overlooking the Atlantic ocean.

Switzerland Wedding
The dream to return to Switzerland one day became a reality for us on our wedding day. With patience, 8 months of planning, up to date documents, the guidance of the Swiss Consulate, the Bern/Interlaken Civil Office, a kind Catholic priest and a wonderful wedding company we had a day to remember in Grindelwald Switzerland. Husband and wife team, Pascal and Cindy Zeller were truly a delight to have help with our wedding plans. They are honest-hard working people. Down to earth and know how to plan a wedding according to the budget you request. We had a limited budget with a few specific requests and they made it happen. Feel free to email me with questions, check out our 13 pages of wedding photos online at www.alpinphoto.com. (Scroll over to the 5th picture that says "specials",then click on Michael and Theresa) to view photos of the 10hr day filled with 2 ceremonies, a beautiful luncheon, a toast on top of a mountain and a dinner to remember. If you are wanting to marry in the gorgeous Swiss air, check out Pascal and Cindy's website. http://www.switzerlandweddingcompany.com

Best Wishes to all the brides and grooms to be!

Italian Wedding
We got married in Vaiano in a 14th century villa north of Tuscany. Very beautiful. I would say though that if yor are considering LEGALLY getting married in Italy...think again. I would say a ceremonial service would be great. Way too many hoops to jump through, way too many people "must" be involved. More people, more money. It's a business reguated by the goverment to make sure foreigners understand that doing ANYTHING in Italy is expensive. Don't regret what we did, however would have done a civil ceremony in US first.
