Eastern Europe June 2009
Maybe this is not the right message board because it is not "backdoor" but I've traveled to Europe several times using Rick Steves guides. It has been great but now I am ready for something a bit more "upscale."
I am planning on taking a 14 day trip with a tour company to Eastern Europe next June. They go to Poland, Budapest, Vienna, and Prague. They have a great itinerary, go to all the best sites, stay at top hotels and go to the best restaurants. I've been on a few of their tours and although they are pricey, it is a good value for what you get.
I usually like to plan my own itinerary and go without a group, but I prefer not to do that in Eastern Europe. However, I will be planning a pre-trip to London for a few days and a post-trip to stay in Vienna a few extra days. Those stays will be very budget minded. I will follow Rick Steves recommended hotels for that part of the trip.
I am married but, alas, my husband does not share my passion for travel. I am looking for a female travel partner to share a room on this trip and thus cut down on the expensive single supplement fee. It also would be more fun to share the travel experience with someone.
I love to travel and like to see as much as possible on my trips.

Central/Eastern Europe: Summer 2009
I will be spending 6-8 weeks in eastern Europe next summer (late June-early August), using Prague as my homebase with trips to Dresden, Berlin, Budapest, Eger, etc. Then will make my way to Northern Ireland (where I will be living after August 2009) via Croatia/Slovenia, Switzerland (Alps) and Paris. Glasgow in January? Celtic Connections--Music Festival
I'm thinking about attending the Celtic Connections music festival in Glasgow next January. I wouldn't go for the whole time, but for an extended weekend. http://www.celticconnections.com/ This is the link to last year's. I think that it might be more fun with someone who enjoys this kind of music. This will be my tenth or eleventh trip to Scotland so I'll be pretty focused on the festival and Glasgow this time. The festival next year is from January 14 to February 1. I can't pick exact dates until I see the schedule and see my work schedule. I've always wanted to attend it. I took some peeks at the acts through YouTube last January and I became even more intrigued. I'm wondering if there is anyone else who has thought about exploring Scotland off season with some great music.

A female friend and I are doing early planning for NW and SE France in 2009. (We have a week in England a Wales before or afterwards.) Railpass/bus combination with hostels and cheap hotels. I speak french fairly well. Would not mind some other souls to join us who are independent, worldly and well-travelled. Plan to spend time in Normandy and & Brittany (already have done Mont St-Michel and D-Day beaches)for Honfleur, St. Malo and Carnac, then to Arles, Avignon, Nimes, Orange, Aix in Provence (plus lavender and olive oil and wine!) and on to Marseilles, Nice, Monte Carlo, Eze and Monaco. Or just make arrangeemnts to meet up in Paris or en route.

Am tentatively planning two weeks in early Dec 2008 with emphasis on exploring Christmas markets and sightseeing in Nurnberg, Vienna and Salzburg. Will plan to use car rental for transportation and small town/village inns for accommodation.
As a well seasoned European traveller(also speaking some German) I am seeking a mature individual (over 40 yrs) with similar interests to share travelling costs and companionship for part or entire trip. Budget? I generally travel on a modest/moderate budget and "splurge" as needed. I have a rough itinerary in mind but am flexible to adjust.

Looking for a travel partner to Europe- Fall 2009
I'm a 22 year old female, just graduated college, and am interested in travelling to Europe before I attend law school in Fall 2009. I'm traveling to Italy alone this fall and am interested in a traveling companion. I'll arrive in Rome oct 15th and fly to Venice on the 18th. Then I plan to catch a train to Florence on the 21st, Cinque Terre on the 24th, and then rent a car for a week to drve through Tuscany before returning to Rome.
