Let's suppose you're interested in exploring the southern tip of Italy with us. If you're open to traveling in 2007 or 2008, we've got some very different choices for you. Here's the skinny...
In 2007 only, we're offering an itinerary that combines Sicily and South Italy into one 15-day tour. If you'd like to see both regions in a single visit, 2007 offers your best (and last!) chance. You'll also pay less per day in 2007 — as little as $206/day if you sign up for our July 2 or November 5 departure.
Compared to the 12-day 2008 Sicily-only tour, the 15-day 2007 tour covers nearly all the same sights in Sicily in about 9 days (in 2007 we're visiting the Ancient Greek ruins at Segasta; in 2008 we'll visit the more historically-significant ruins at Syracuse instead). So if Sicily is what you really want to see, our 2007 tour is a great value.
If, however, you want an in-dept look at South Italy, our 2008 tour is the one you'll want to pick. In 2007 we're spending 6 days in this region, compared to 13 days — nearly twice the time — in 2008. Those extra days (shown in the table below) allow us to spend time exploring Hadrian's Roman villa at Tivoli, the beautiful Gargano Peninsula on the Adriatic Coast, Ancient Greek temples at Paestum, elegant Sorrento, the summit of Mt. Vesuvius, and more time on the magnificent Amalfi Coast.
If you want to see a lot in one trip, the faster-paced 2007 tour really delivers. If you'd like a little more time to stop and smell the espresso, one of our 2008 tours will be a better fit.
