Rick's Radio and TV Shows on Greece
![]() |
| Special Project: After filming two public TV shows in Greece, Rick returned to trace the path of the Apostle Paul for his Faithful Travel with Rick Steves DVD. |
Radio: "Travel with Rick Steves" — Rick's weekly public radio show — is also available in handy, listen-whenever-you-want podcast form. Here are the shows we've done so far on Greece:
An Insider's Guide to Greece
From the newly spruced up capital of Athens, to the sun-drenched villages of the mainland and the islands, it's no myth that Greece is a pleasure to experience. Greece provides countless opportunities for travelers to experience its rich history in the ruins of its ancient past. Yet modern-day Greece carries its own weight as a desirable destination. Visiting ancient sites in Greece is something every seasoned traveler should do at least once, and this week Rick gets an insider's perspective on visiting Greece from tour guide Penny Kolomvatsou. Greece at a Glance, and Marrying into Spain
When travel leads to romance, the result may be a whole new life. On this week's Travel with Rick Steves, we meet an American woman who married a Spaniard and is now raising a family in the heart of Madrid. We'll also hear from David Willett, an Australian tour guide who enjoys Greece so much that he spends much of the year showing off its wondrous sites. He'll advise us on how to go beyond Athens to find the real Greece. And we'll hear from listeners who've stared-down scam artists face-to-face in their European travels. TV: If you'd like to enjoy the pair of "Rick Steves' Europe" TV shows that cover Greece, you have three options: wait for your local public television to air the shows; read the scripts (linked below); or order the DVD!
Greek Islands
The Greek Islands' sunny climate, great beaches and relaxed culture attracts travelers from all corners. Island-hopping on the Aegean ferries, we visit touristy Santorini, ride a motorbike around Samos, and hang out on barely known Lipsi. With tips from the tourist office, we find offbeat ways to enjoy the islands and our own picturesque places to stay.

Athens and the Peloponnese
We explore the Peloponnese Peninsula before taking on frenetic, sprawling Athens. Seeing beyond its crowded streets, we return to the city's incredible, historic core, climbing to the majestic Acropolis and exploring a centuries-old market. While in Greece, we sample retsina wine, eat scrumptious specialties and even learn a local dance in the Plaka.
