Hi from Rick: What's New in 2005

Rick giving the thumbs up
Europe feels good for 2005!

Dear Traveler,

Happy New Year!

Our January issue of Travel News kicks off 2005 with lots of practical travel information and activities.

Our annual "What's New" review includes a tasty chocolate museum in Belgium, a thought-provoking Nobel Peace Prize museum in Oslo, and a newly-opened wing of the exquisite Rijksmuseum actually at the Amsterdam airport. We've collected all the latest that came out of this year's guidebook research.

Just back from filming our PBS Christmas special, we share some alternative Christmas traditions.

We are preparing for our 20th annual tour alumni party — a giant massing of the scrapbooks. Our guides will fly in from Europe as our travel partners gather to relive their 2004 tour highlights. The festival will include 20 free "Test Drive a Tour Guide" workshops open to everyone.

Thankfully, railpasses cost roughly the same in 2005. And our latest analysis of all the passes available and how they compare to various alternatives is now on our website and ready for smart travelers.

Our personal goal for 2005: to provide the necessary information for you to stretch your vacation dollar as far as it possibly can. Our wish for you in the new year: lots of happy travels. For all the details, enjoy this month's Travel News.
