Travelers Raise $90,000 to Fight Hunger

We and our friends at Bread for the World would like to thank all who responded to our 2010 Christmas fund- and awareness-raiser!
During the holidays, we challenged people to support Bread's important work with a $100 donation in return for our three Rick Steves' European Christmas gifts (book, DVD and music CD). More than 800 people responded, sending Bread for the World an exciting total of just over $90,000.
Our Travel Store donated the 2,400 items to customers as thank-you gifts. This way, 100% of every contribution could go directly to Bread for the World, with no costs deducted.
One year earlier — the first year we tried it — the same project raised just over $67,000.
This money will be put to good use in the coming year to help add a little more 'soft power' to the mix of power that our country applies around the world (to learn more, visit www.bread.org).
