Travel Tales

Rick Steves joins these travelers in guidebook form.
Lauren (r.) with bff's Kayla, Mary, and Rick (in book form) at Rome's Trevi Fountain.

Every month we feature funny, cautionary, or inspiring anecdotes from travelers. If you have a true (short) travel tale to share, send it to stories@ricksteves.com. If you have a photo that illustrates it, please attach it. And don't forget to tell us your first name and the city where you live. We'd love to hear from you!

Recess in Europe

I'm sure that this isn't actually Rick reading this (since I'm sure he is extremely busy updating books, doing seminars, filming, etc.), but I just wanted to send a thank-you email from a younger fan.

I lived in the Basque Country in Spain for five months earlier this year, and traveled all around Europe whenever I was free from the University. My friends and I used your guidebooks like Bibles, as many of your fans do, and we can't thank you enough for the advice.

I'll graduate from college within the next year or so with a major in International Affairs and Spanish. I can't wait to begin my career in a field that will let me travel — using your guidebooks along the way, of course!

— Lauren in Reno, NV
