Switzerland Guidebook
Best and worst restaurants:
Best: Swiss Chuchi at Adler Hotel in Zurich
Why: We had fun at this restaurant and enjoyed our first raclette experience-easy to find right there on the eating lane.

Best: Hotel Eiger
Why: See above. Have you ever gone to a restaurant where they offered you SECONDS on your meal???????
Gail Hennessey in Harpursville, NY USA 09/23/2010
Best: Mountain Hostel
Why: The view from the outdoor seating is amazing, and the food we had (raclette and cheese fondue) was better than the restaurants in the other towns in the valley. Less expensive too.

Best: Restaurant Taube, Luzern
Why: It was a rainy day in Luzern and we enjoyed the cozy, historic feel of this restaurant. Service and food were excellent and beautifully presented. My choice was the veal dumplings in a puff pastry, one of the things they are famous for. Delicious. Also a mixed green salad which puts most State-side salads to shame. My husband had a roasted trout entree. No room for dessert! We also especially enjoyed Pizzeria Tango on the Piazza dela Riforma in Lugano. Pizza and staff were exceptional.
Phyllis Thomas in Chattanooga, TN USA 07/30/2010
Best: All were fine
Why: We ate at Camping Jungfrau and Hotel Silberhorn as well as grabbing dinner makings at the Coop for eating on our balcony at Hotel Staubbach; that may have been the most enjoyable.
Alan Nakamura in Crestwood, KY USA 05/15/2010
Best: The Baren in Interlaken
Why: This is an interesting old restaurant--hundreds of years old with lots of atmosphere and open fire pit. Not inexpensive but the Rosti was quite good. Lots of different meats appear on the menu one of which was horse--successfully avoided that.

Best: Hotel Oberlin
Why: Good service, food, and reasonable prices.
Jenn in Portland, OR USA 10/07/2009
Best: Grindelwald Blick on the Mannlichen-Kleine Scheidegg hike
Why: It was a good stopping point, with great views, especially if you were going to continue beyond Kleine Scheidegg on a longer hike. The staff was friendly and the rosti rolls were fantastic. Swiss junk food, I think, but delicious.
Worst: Anker Restaurant in Bern
Why: Staff was unfriendly, especially when they found out we had limited German at our disposal. We would try to greet and handle menus in German, but when we asked for an explanation in English, our server pretty much refused. Plus, when I asked for a Coca-Cola Zero (which I saw someone else had) she said they didn't have it. Unfriendly, and expensive for the quality of the food.
Kimberly Tays in Saint Petersburg, FL USA 09/15/2009
Best: Rathaus Brauerei, Luzern
Why: The restaurant was sold out of their $23 3-course-special when I showed up for dinner, so I ordered the $11 beer and cold sausage combo. To an American, it was too expensive to be a good value -- until you considered their million dollar view of the Reuss River and Chapel Bridge. Unless you want to hit their museums, you really only need 4 hours in Luzern, and you could easily spend half of that time (in summer) at one of the brewery's tables along the Reuss.
Dave in Philadelphia, PA USA 09/10/2009
Best: We used small local restraunts .
Why: Convenience and busy schedule.
Jim Colgan in Bixby, OK USA 08/15/2009
Best: Hotel Edelweiss for lunch in Murren
Why: Great value, selection and a gorgeous patio view of the swiss alps.WOW.
JS USA 07/29/2009
Best: Manora Restaurants in Lausanne and Lugano
Why: Fresh and wonderful assortment of very good quality food for an excellent price.
JS in Walnut Creek, Ca USA 07/29/2009
Best: Schwellenmatteli Restaurant in Bern
Why: We loved the Schwellenmatteli Restaurant. The lunch special was excellent.
Worst: Bellevue Palace's Breakfast
Why: Breakfast was over priced 35 SFR and the quality of the food was terrible and it was cold.
