Best and worst accommodations:
Best: Gerloczy Deluxe Rooms in Budapest
Why: Nice, quiet rooms with good beds and a great location at a good price. But the best part is the hotel staff: friendly, professional and jaw-droppingly helpful.

Best: Budapest – Ibis – Centrum
Why: The Ibis – Centrum is part of the Ibis chain of hotels. However, it’s cultural charm is located just out the front door on Raday Utca. Raday Utca is a lively street, lined with outdoor café’s and restaurants, as far as the eye can see, filled with locals. Besides an occasional car, it seemed like a pedestrian only street. It had many great choices to dine, or just wind down with a drink, and it’s just outside the door. I loved this street so much, that I spent all three of my evenings, dining at my favorite restaurant in Budapest!(see Best Restaurants).
My room was very clean, and well kept. It was spacious for European standards. The bathroom was en suite, very clean and came with modern fixtures. The English speaking staff was very helpful, professional and someone was available 24-7. It provided free internet access as well as free Wi-Fi access. To add to this, the price is hard to beat! I got the room for approximately $77.00 a night.
The location is prime. It is a stones throw away from Kalvin Ter, which has a Metro Stop (Blue Metro Line/M3) as well as tram stop. I will definitely stay here again and I do highly recommend it. (Trip taken mid/late Sept. 2012)

Worst: budapesting.com-Izabella's Dream apt
Why: Door lock is a safety issue, almost impossible to operate so you were often unable to get out for several minutes while you kept trying to unlock. Plus they allowed tenant from night before to keep key and come in to apt. to pick up his bag after I had already checked in and they knew I was a woman traveling alone. Also, apt. was dirty and all cloth furniture, including mattress & pillow smelled like unwashed bodies.

Best: K+K Hotel Opera
Why: Location is truly excellent. This isn't one of those places where you hear it's 5 minutes from the Metro but arrive and discover it's 25 minutes unless you're a world-class sprinter -- it really is 5 minutes or even less. Very short walk to St. Istvan's Basilica. Room was clean, breakfast was fine, and our request for a non-smoking room far from the road was granted.
Amy in Chicago, IL USA 12/04/2011

Philip Braverman in New York, NY USA 09/05/2011
Why: "Bait and Switch". I have exchanged many emails with the host and found him to be less than trust worthy. He switched my room and place without notice and when caught he stated that the original confirmed room and property would not be available. My attempts to get detailed information re: the new property has been ignored. He never answered my questions. Finally he stated that he does not want to switch now.
This guy cannot be trusted. He got caught and will try it again later. But not with me. I will not attempt to stay with this jerk. I am an experienced traveler to Eastern Europe that can find a trust worthy host.
Good News: Airbnb.com agreed that budapesting.com tried a "Bait and Switch" and quickly refunded all of my deposit including their fees
