Budapest Guidebook
Best ways to improve this book:
I bought 3 guide books, and Rick Steves was by far the most useful for me.

Your book is great - "you cannot be blamed for "Bait and Switch" it happens however budapesting.com is a worse case scenario

Otherwise, Rick steves has been our best friend- we still have over a month left to travel, and we will be using him the whole ime

Please improve the information regarding the bus transfer to Memento Park. There are so many bus stops in that vincinty, it took us over an hour to find the correct one. "Head for the restaurant with the penguin sign on the main street" would have been most helpful!

Add Faust Wine Cellars to things to do in Budapest
For Prague- I stayed at the Dahlia Inn...it's in the new town, but the walk was worth the wealth of knowledge given by mark the owner. This affordable, trendy, clean, botique hotel was well worth staying in.

We would like to advocate for this addition: No where in this guide could I find information about the National Railway Museum, which we visited on our first trip to Hungary in 2006. It is a wonderful adventure, especially for those with a fondness for nostolgic train travel. The museum is a ways out from the center of Pest, but we road the vintage railcar from Nyugati Station right to the museum (the ride and entrance were included in a single ticket), but the #30 bus also gets you there. Lots of great hands-on things to see and do out there. Check out the details at http://www.mavnosztalgia.hu/en Would love to see this addition in the next publication.

Make it known that you can walk most of Budapest without much effort.

Rick ------found your Budapest guidebook very helpful, but have some suggestions----Even though a lot of the exhibits in the HOUSE OF TERROR have English subtitles, I found your room by room description very useful. But suggest you review as you may have skipped a room or two----------p.189 Map has HUNGARIAN WAR MEMORIAL which is the big block in front of the Millenium Monument. Is this Memorial described somewhere? Is that the 1956 monument? If so, doesn’t look like the picture. --------Replace the photo of the ING BANK HEADQUARTERS with a better image. The present photo makes it look like a chunk of carved ice.---------p.191 Yes, the subway entrance is just where you say it is, near the bath, but it is the oddest subway station I’ve ever seen— right in the middle of the lawn, not near a street. At first I thought it was an underground passage to somewhere, or a WC entrance. Give reader a clue like “unobstrusive” or “located away from street” which is normally where I would have looked for it.-----p. 98 Yes, you do say bus stop is up the hill from metro station, but buses are somewhat hidden by the trees. There are trams at the bottom of the castle-looking building and for a minute I thought you meant them but then saw people crossing tracks and going up the hill. Say: “ go past tram tracks up the hill to bottom of castle-looking building where there are several bus stops for buses headed up------- p. 98 DISZ TER stop is hard to identify. First of all bus driver is enclosed in glass, lots of people boarding, can’t always see sign at places bus stops. I got off too soon thinking I had missed it. So got back on and rode back down the hill and started over as I wanted to be sure to start your walking tour at the beginning. This time I got off at the right stop. You say DISZ TER is in the middle of the hill. It certainly felt more like near the top. Anyway, suggest you describe what view will look like from the bus at DISZ TER and mention it is about x stops from where you get on so people have some idea how far they have to go -------p.112 In the courtyard of one section of FISHERMEN’S BASTION is entrance to SZABO MARCIPAN MUSEUM. Would have like to know what you thought of it. Worth going in as one is right there ? ------

Please update the prices, and add places were souvenirs are real and cheap.

I would like to have more information @ the best place to buy reasonably priced souvenirs. The Great Market Hall was extremely overpriced, e.g. blouses for 40-70- dollars,

Not many. The only other tip that would have been helpful would have been to recommend taking soap to the Szechenyi baths. We didn't know to do so and then didn't have soap to clean up with.
Otherwise, the book was awesome and we had an amazing visit in Budapest, Szentendre, and Eger!!! Rick's guidebooks are so reliable. We like to travel by "plopping" down in a single city and live like locals for a week. The information provided in Rick's books always provide us with a "tour guide in a book" to make this possible. Thanks!
