Aberdeen
We did a trip to England and Scotland in September--8 relatives. Took the trains visiting York, Edinburgh, Aberdeen, Inverness, York, London and more. I would like to suggest you add the Aberdeen area to your books. It's a beautiful, varied and delightful area. Thanks, used your book throughout--except for Aberdeen area.

A Humble Request For The Expansion Of Rick's Travels
I'd really love to see you exploring regions beyond Europe. I'm a huge fan of your series as it stands but now that you're starting to do shows in areas you've previously covered I'd really love to see you share some experiences and history of places like Asia and Central or South America for instance.
Please consider pursuing this, I think it would be fabulous.
Huge Fan,
Josh

Posing in pictures
We know what you look like. I don't think is necessary for you to be standing right in the middle of the picture so much. We enjoy the travels, but we don't need to see you so often.

Episode 407
Rick,
My sister and I went to Tuscany last summer and were eagerly waiting your new episode on Tuscany,La Dolce Vita; unfortunately my local PBS station replaced that episode at the last minute with a pledge drive program. This was extremely upsetting because there is apparently no future airing of that episode planned. This occurred at WGBH, Boston. Perhaps if there is a contract with you to air these episodes, WGBH should be held accountable for not airing your complete series. My sister and I will no longer send pledges to WGBH for this reason.

Rick's New Shows
Just wanted to say I just got the 11 new episodes on DVD. I've noticed subtle changes in the production values throughout Rick's shows, all for the better. Most noticible, however, is the choice of music. It keeps getting better. The new shows have music very well-integrated into the program.
Well done, Rick.

Italy
Rick, A friend and I recently returned from Italy, Florence and Amalfi. It was amazing how many people that I saw with Rick Steves' book. I caught your show on the Amalfi coast today. What great memories. Keep up the great work.

Dear Rick and your film crew,
So thank you for the programming you've provided over the years. Watching you on the KQED pledge drive, I realized I needed to do something with my pledge to acknowledge how good your work is, and I wanted you to know that. What you had to say about PBS is pretty much the same as what I have to say about it. I wouldn't want to live without it. It's not that I don't watch commercial TV. I do watch it. But when you have a brain and a heart, when you love fine art, good cooking, travel, classical music, opera, well-produced adaptations of acclaimed works of fiction, British sitcoms and dramas, programs that explore science, museums, antiques, and a whole bunch of other things that commercial TV largely ignores, PBS is valuable. Too bad the government keeps cutting what funding it gives to PBS, but we the people can make the difference.

Rick on HD
Just saw an episode in HD. This is clearly the way all travel shows should be filmed/broadcast. The picture/clarity/colors were stunning.
Well done Rick & Crew. Well done.

Travel partners with Rick
I've just set my TIVO for your 2006 shows - we've been travel partners with Rick since 1997 and have just returned from Prague, Cesky Krumlov, Vienna, Hallstatt, Vienna & Munich. In each location, you took us to the best hotels, sights & even laundries - and it's great to see a taste of it all either before or after our trips on your shows. Can't wait to see the new shows!

I am a HS Music teacher in Houston, Texas. The background music being played during the Edinburgh preview video online is really cool. Especially the background music during the Scottish Parliament clips. Can someone share the title of the pieces?

TV Show on Greece
I was so happy to see a show on Greece on my PBS station a couple of weeks ago. It was a long time coming but very enjoyable and showed the true flavour of a holiday in Greece. Bravo!! Do some more and branch out into some of the lesser known islands - they're all beautiful!!

Rick in New Orleans
I'm not exactly sure who to ask about this, so I'm just trying this out. I live in New Orleans, and after Katrina my PBS station (who used to show Rick's shows) has gone off the air. I haven't seen a show at all since his Christmas special! Where can I go to see Rick's new episodes???

First Year Series
Bring back the first series ('91) to DVD!!! I was stationed at Hahn Air Base in the late '80s and used the Bullay (ad der Mosel) train station to start many of my European adventures. I just happended to turn to PBS one day and caught Rick's show and he was getting on the train at Bullay. I immediately yelled "Hey, that's my train station!" I have been a fan ever since and have even met Rick at a lecture once. I would love to have that first year series on DVD.

Rick's PBS Interview
We have taken three of Rick's tours of Europe. One on our own and two guided. No matter which way you go, you are in for a trip of a lifetime using Rick or his books.
Last evening I saw the PBS interview with Rick. What an artculate and smart man. I usually don't get into these discussion much myself about politics, laws, and how Europeans view our country, but I could not change the channel until the interview was complete. Rick's views on the planet in general and the USA in particular and his insights to our European friends were not only interesting but to me were right on track.
I have met him before and he was always outgoing and kind. Now I have learned much more about him as a person and learned scholar and I appreciate him and what he is doing for the world even more.

Travel DVD
Wanted to say how great Rick's Italy DVD is compared to other DVD's we've watched in preparation for our upcoming trip to Rome and Venice. Not only did it give us a broad overview with historical information, but it held our boys'(aged 6 and 7) interest as well.

Rick's Older Shows
I would greatly like to see Rick's other older shows on DVD (especially the 1993 season), not just the 16 from the 1995 and 1997 seasons that are currently offered. Barcelona, for example, is not covered by any of the new episodes. I know that the 1991 season (the first one) was a bit awkward, but all of Rick's shows, past to present, are worth having.

Rick on Public TV
Dear "Doesn't know English, either!":
Don't hate on Rick because he travels so much that he hears thirty different pronounciations of the same word. Even throughout the US, people pronounce words differently by region. These pronounciations may not be "correct" by Webster's standards, but everyone knows what the person is saying. Grab some understanding before your next trip and try not to allow your high standards of speech affect your openness to various ways that people engage in communication. I do not think that Rick Steves does his television shows to showcase his speaking abilities, I think he does them to communicate how enriching it can be to diversify your life. Think big picture.

Christmas program
Wonderful Christmas show! I watched the Christmas show each time it was on the two PBS stations in Utah. Even taped it and have watched it often after the holidays and will probably watch the show throughout the year. Great ending in Italy and Alps.

Doesn't know English, either!
Has anyone noticed how often Rick Steves mispronounces words. In his recently aired show on Rome he (twice) refers to o-BLISKS. To the rest of us, and to any dictionary, they are obelisks, Egyptian and otherwise. And then there was that famous French king, Francois (correctly pronounced) Premier (as in movie) Or, when he refered to what is a very nice place, the "ILL de la cite." Sounds like a hick in need of someone willing to correct him.
