Europe Apps
Thank you Rick Steves! We used the apps for the Florence Walking Tour (duomo), l'Accademia (Statue of David), Athens, and Turkey, and were so impressed at the organization and quality of information provided. Great App
I used your app while I was traveling in Rome a few weeks ago and found it extremely useful and easy to use. I enjoyed how detailed it was. Audio Europe App - problem
Help! I have downloaded the Audio Europe App on my iphone and added the tape on Napes to my play list. All worked well. I then added several other tapes. They were listed in my play list, but mysteriously disappeared when I attempted to play one. Did I do something wrong?
Editor's Note: This may occur for some users upgrading from Rick Steves 1.0 or 1.0.1 to 1.2.1. Your tracks are still downloaded, and you can get them back by simply going to the "add to tracks section" and tap the folders for which your tracks have disappeared. The app will load the list of available tracks from the Internet as usual and you should see that your tracks are indeed there. Once this list is loaded, your tracks should reappear in the playlist once you reload the folder in the playlist section.

Italy audio tours--need to add Spain!
We loved the audio guide tour apps for Florence, Rome, and Venice they were so informative and convenient. Please add some these for Spain ASAP because we would like to go there in 2013 and this would really enhance our experience.

PHENOMENAL! Added to our trip immensely!
Phenomenal! We traveled all through Italy in Rome, Pompeii, Naples, Florence, Cortona, etc with the many audio guides. They were simply invaluable in adding to our experiences. The different ''walks'' through the many neighborhoods of Rome were fantastic. The Sistine Chapel audio guide made our experience unforgettable. THANK YOU!

MP3 Versions Need To Be Divided Into Chapters
Thanks for providing such a valuable resource in portable audio podcasts. The MP3 versions are especially useful on my non-Apple/non-Android players.
May I suggest an improvement for the MP3 versions. Right now the audio for each tour is one large chapter. The maps that go along with the tours are labled for many individual stops. It would be more versitile if the audio was split into separate chapters that corresponded to the individual stops. This would be like a museum audio guide that allows discrete selection of audio information for each marked stop in an exibition.
For various reasons it is helpful to be able to skip ahead or replay a selection or section. Right now this is very difficult to do because the audio is one large continuous stream. Fast forward and rewind are not very precise. Next track (chapter) or previous track (chapter) would work much better.

Jewish history in Europe
I hope you are adding Jewish European history (dating back to Roman times) and monuments to the pogroms and synagogue destruction (aside from the camps). Yours and most guide books and videos have largely ignored this. Munich and Rothenburg ob der Tauber for example have relatively new memorials but some local inquiry is often required upon arrival.

Tracks within File Non-Existent
When I downloaded several files to my MP3 player, Rick states "...you will be able to skip to the next section of the file, just like the next track on a music CD"...well, on each of the files I downloaded, it requires you to listen to the entire 47minute tour...and does not allow me to forward or go back within the file. There exists no seperate tracks.

Venice walking tour

Just had to tell you how very much we enjoyed the Venice walking tours. Both St Marks church and info on the square was informative and entertaining. Android app crashed every time
Audio tours for Athens and Rome on the Android app kept crashing less than a minute after starting up. Worse when I held the phone in any position other than completely upright. Did not end up using any of the audio tours which was a big bummer. Could you please look into this issue?

Cannot play M4a files
Can not download and play M4a files on my non-Apple MP3 player. It plays only the MP3 files. Tried two different MP3 Players. Both types of files download and played only on my Verizon Android phone.

most of the walking tours I downloaded crashed right as I was starting them up. A few worked just fine The Colosseum and Pantheon. The Forum, Accademia and Historic Paris Walk got audio but no visual on the screen to fast forward or pause

Audio Europe Crashing
Some of the podcasts are working but others are crashing my android. I've tried removing and reinstalling to no avail...

Forgotten Switzerland?
I was so excited about this app that I made sure to upgrade to the iphone 4 just so I could download all of the audioguides for my trips to Switzerland and Austria.....BUT.....no such audioguides available???? SO disappointed.

Paris Musee D'Orsay
The museum is undergoing a renovation, so 1st floor is entirely closed and exhibits are reduced and moved around. The walking tour was useful for background info, but not as a guide per se. Special exhibit on Manet's works and influences now in progress!

Podcast in Florence and Venice
The free podcasts that we downloaded to our Ipods were terrific! It was so great to have his excellent narration guide us through The Accademia and we thoroghly enjoyed the Renaissance Walk as well through the heart of Florence. We used the podcast again in Venice for St. Mark's Basicilia and St. Mark's Square. Do more Rick! A real perk!

I just downloaded the iPhone Ap and the entire Paris Playlist in prep for a trip there in September. I had planned on BUYING the extra files for Versailles, Orsay, the Louvre.
But after having listened to just one of the free ones, I am wondering what MORE the extra $$ would buy me. Can anyone give me any guidance here?

Athens Nat's Archeological Museum
They've moved or removed a few things in the Athens Archeology Museum which fouls up about 25% of Rick's audio tour, including closing a whole wing at present (towards the end of the audio tour). What still remains is good information...just be patient with the tour

Great app but needs more
I used the app all through Italy. Wonderful walking tours and interviews! Highly recommend!
Only suggestion would be to add country diversity. I'm traveling to Prague and Vienna in a few days and there are no walking tours available for those cities. Personally, I thought the walking tours were the best part when I was in Italy, and i wish I could have them again!

Hi- I am really bummed to find out that your app does not run on 1st generation ipod touch. I am traveling on a budget, and just cannot afford a new ipod. It would be nice if there was a version that could run on older ipods for younger travelers!

technical problems on iPad
Still haven't gotten it to work on my iPad. It won't download any of the sound files. I've even deleted the entire application and reloaded it from scratch three times. Rick, smack your programmers upside the head!

Thanks so much for all of the great content. I am an armchair traveler and one of the few who does not have (or want) iTunes, iPhone, or any of the other Apple or Microsoft players. Would it be possible to have an RSS feed for the podcasts in MP3 format so that I could download the files to my MP3 player using Google Reader?

Hey Lisa,
This is a peculiar bug we haven't been able to reproduce frequently. It could habe been due to some spotty network connection you may have encountered by downloading. I do have some ideas on how you can get your app back into a nice, working state.
1) Make sure you are not in the RSAE app and double-tap the home button on your device
2) Press and hold down on the RSAE icon in the menu that slides up from the bottom. If you don't see the RSAE icon, you can swipe side-to-side through the menu to find it.
3) After the press-and-hold, the icons should start to wobble and have littile minus signs in their top-right corners. Hit the minus sign button for the RSAE icon.
4) Hit the home button and reload the RSAE app. The podcast that was stuck at 100% should have either now finished or been erased. If it's the former, you should be able to play it just fine. If it's the latter, then just go ahead an re-download it and you should be good to go.

iphone audio europe 2011
First thank you for having the app and sharing so much information. I had the older version of the app, when the newer app replaced it the app would crash when I tried to access the audio tours I had previously installed. I removed the app and am re-downloading the audio segments I have downloaded the Rome-The Colosseum which it says is 100% but I still get the buttons for pause and delete and it won't play. I have tried deleting but it still comes back at 100%.
