hi bob

we have used the RER from charles de gaules airport on our trip to Paris, you purchase your tickets at the train station at the terminal just follow the signs RER, it takes around 45minutes to go to central Paris. this website of Paris transportation will help you find your way http://www.ratp.fr/ hope this helps! martine

Take the RER B from either CDG 1 or CDG 2 TGV to Denfert-Rochereau. Transfer to Metro line 6 and take it to La Motte Picquet Grenelle. Transfer to Metro line 8 and take it to Ecole Militaire. Fare: 8.20€.

Bob -

Going to Denfert Rochereau is too long of a trip and taking you too far out of your way.

I would recommend the following -

RER B from CDG to Saint Michel - this train begins at CDG so no worry about direction.

Follow signs to Metro line 10 - direction Boulogne (the station here is called Cluny-Sorbonne) Line 10 stops at La Motte Piquet

A note regarding tickets from CDG to Paris. There are Kiosks to purchase tickets - HOWEVER - the kiosks do not accept American credit cards - only cards with the European chips. Cash is accepted but it must be coins. There is a change machine - hidden - ticket counter area. You can ask at the information booth they will direct you.

Here's possibly an even better route because the RATP Journey Planner says it involves the least amount of walking: RER B from CDG to Gare du Nord. Metro line 4 (direction Porte d'Orleans) to Strasbourg-Saint-Denis. Metro line 8 (direction Balard) to Ecole Militaire.

Can you make the entire trip on just the RER ticket. Someone told us you can only ride to Gare du Nord then you have to buy a metro ticket. Thanks

Lee, a single ticket from CDG to central Paris costs 8.20€. It includes transfers to the Metro and/or other RER lines until you exit the system.
