Zizkov area of Prague (Prague3)

I have an opportunity to rent an apt in the Zizkoz area of Prague. I also can rent an apt in Old Town. The Zizkoz apt is a little less. Old Town is closer to the main attractions but Zizkov has lots of pubs, etc Any opinions?

Sidney

I stayed in Zizkov a couple of year's ago, and quite enjoyed being out of the centre. There are a number of pubs and restaurants in the area, and they are considerably cheaper. On the other hand there are also a number of strip clubs and people trying to entice you in.

One thing to be aware of is that although the public transport is good - cheap and frequent - you are cut off from the centre by both the railway and motorway which means the trams are quite indirect.

On balance I'd probably go for the Old Town unless you really want to be somewhere out of the centre.

As another alternative there are some places around Jiri z Podebrad metro station which are reasonable. I've stayed here, for example,

Only about 15 minutes walk from Zizkov, a nice area for eating and drinking, and more direct transport links.

Cheers Alan
