food in Haarlem, NL
Just wondering if there are any good places to eat (for around 20 euro, let's say) in Haarlem.
I heard there is a good Mexican place (odd?)... not sure what place it was. I also know that there are Indonesian restaurants all over the place... any recommendations. I'm up for any ethnic food. I'm not a fan of seafood though.
Thanks much!! Matt
(I have the "Best of Europe" book, and I ripped out Holland and stapled it together, but Haarlem's food section was kinda dismantled from the pack. Haven't seen it in months.)

We ate a meal at the Carrillion Hotel and it was very good and not expensive. This was in Fall 2006.
My husband and I stayed in Haarlem last summer and enjoyed:
Eko Eet Cafe - delicious vegetarian and seafood dishes (Zijlstraat 39)
Pizzeria-Ristorante Venezia - flavourful pizza and pasta (Verwulft7)
De Lachende Javaan - Indonesia - try the rijsttafel (Frankestraat 27)
All of these were recommended by Rick and/or our B&B
There is a falafel place at the Haarlem train station that has the most amazing falafel pita sandwich I have ever eaten! Also, Rick recommends a Dutch pancake restaurant a few blocks from the train station and they were divine. There is also a good Indian restaurant called Taste of India that is right downtown on the main road (for car traffic). It's right across from a supermarket and near a bus stop if that helps! We ate Indonesian in Amsterdam, not Haarlem, but I would definintely recommend you try a Rijstafel somewhere in the area.

Here's a listing with details... restaurants in Haarlem, NL... bon appétit ...P
My son and husband said the best place for casual food in Haarlem is called XO, in the main square. They have the best BLT on the planet (according to my teenage son).
Well, I'd go to my aunt's house, but barring that, there are several places on or near the Grote Markt square you can try.
