Transportation Gatwick to Heathrow

Our flight from Venice to Phoenix leaves Venice at 10:30 in the evening, arrives Gatwick at 11:30. We will spend the night at a B & B near Gatwick and need transportation to Heathrow for our flight to Phoenix leaving at 2:30 p.m. Monday. There are six of us. There is no longer a free shuttle bus between. What is the most economical way to transfer? Thanks!

As there are six of you, I'd suggest getting a taxi. You can wait until you get to your B&B to book one, but for peace of mind, you could call ahead from Venice and get one sorted. (Your B&B should be able to advise).

From Gatwick to Heathrow is about 40 miles and a taxi should cost about 60 GBP (120 USD). As a comparison, the National Express bus costs 19 GBP each, but it does run every ten minutes and takes around 75 minutes.

Cheapest: Take the easyBus from Gatwick to just outside Victoria. The fare is £4. Allow up to 90 minutes for the bus ride. Take either a National Express coach from Victoria coach station or the Tube from Victoria Underground station to Heathrow (one change at Hammersmith). The fare for either route is £4.

Next cheapest: Take a Southern train from Gatwick to Victoria rail station. The ride will take 35-40 minutes. If you depart after 09:30 you can Buy GroupSave tickets. A single ticket costs £9.50, but the first four people will travel for the price of two. Then take the Tube to Heathrow. The Tube station is below the train station.
