Skye or Iona/Mull?

OK, another itinerary question- if I only have time to go to either Skye or Mull/Iona, which should I choose and why? I've heard some great things about the feel of Iona, but also that the scenery is awesome on Skye...

It's a win - win situation.

Either destination is fantastic.

For me Skye just wins out but that is such a personal and subjective point of view. You can really lose yourself and find solitude and tranquility on Skye.

On the other hand Iona is wonderfully friendly and stunningly beautiful.

Went to both places in 2000 and last year chose to return to Mull/Iona. Why? Well husband and I just preferred Mull to Skye. Can't say why exactly, we just do. Ffionphort is a lovely little place with lots of pink granite, soft sands and gorgeous views. Not dramatic scenery it's true; but fabulous nontheless. Tobermory is different again, lots more trees and greenery.

Iona is worth the journey for all the reasons which you may have read. Have a meal at the Martyr's Bay Restaurant, we had excellent service and food. Take a boat trip to Staffa and Fingal's Cave - wonderful. Afternoon boats are likely to be less crowded than morning trips. Next time we go; it will be an afternoon boat!

PM me if I can be of further help!
