is the overnight grand train from moscow to st. petersburg a good idea? is the air conditioning adequate in the summer? can you really sleep?

Hi. I took the overnight train (albeit about 15 years ago), but I thought it was really great. It's nice to do the traveling while you are sleeping, and yes, I really did sleep. There was no air conditioning that I remember, maybe an open window is about it. But I did sleep, yes. Plus, you get the nice tradition of the porter serving you hot tea (chai) at night, and in the morning.

Took the overnight train in March of 2007. Was a nice ride with no problems. However I am 6'3" so the bed was a bit short. We had the window open some as the heat was on in the train. Otherwise, I would suggest taking this.
