Taking the train from Rme to Salerno then the ferry to Amalfi
Which ferry should we take to get the best pictures and views of the coast? How long does it take. WHen we get to Amalfi, where would yo walk, eat and shop? What to shop for in Amalfi? We will be going the end of September 2008.

You can depart naples or salerno for amalfi. Times and convenience dictates. At amalfi the dock is at street level with the large parking area and regional bus transport, cab, etc. No stairs to climb. Recently Positano has been iffy as a ferry stop due to construction. metrodelmare dot com is the major ferry service provider.
How late do the ferrys leave from Amalfi? So we can plan accordingly to return before we get stuck. :)
I think that the latest runs out of Amalfi are in the late afternoon. However, not to worry. The SITA bus has regular runs from Amalfi to Salerno and from Amalfi to Sorrento late into the evening. Check out http://www.sitabus.it/sitabus/campania/orarioCA2007/QUADROXVsorrentosalerno_.pdf
