EUROS vs ? for Greek Islands -What do i use?

We will start in Athens and then leave on a cruise for the Greek islands. We still have some EUROS from a previous trip for start up money but am wondering what type of currency that we need.

Where would be the best place to get the currency? ex. ATM at the Athens airport for start up money

Will we have much of a problem in finding ATMs on the islands and in Istanbul?

Please do a search for all the other threads on whether to carry money, use an ATM or exchange money.

If in Greece, you will need Euros, in Turkey, they use the New Turkish Lira.

Arnold, thank you so much. You have cleared my question as to the type of currencies we will need. Keep traveling.

Even the smallest island we were on had an ATM, but keep a larger than normal stash of cash in case there are problems.

In even the most remote areas we were in in Greece, the villages had an ATM. Happy travels.

Nicole, thank-you so much. Your words of advice have relieved me. I still go prepared, but at the same time I know that I can fall back on an ATM.
