"The Grand Tour"

A friend in DC e-mailed this article to me and I enjoyed reading about the classic "Grand Tour" (and also the modern version). My new motto: "Life is a Grand Tour". Best regards,

Hello Thomas. I thank you for the information about that article in the New York Times. I found it at that web site, and I read all of it. (Finding that article, dated May 15, 2008, at that website, was not easy). A book that may be of interest to you : "The Grand Tour" by Tim Moore. Published in the year 2001. He wrote about his experiences traveling in Europe : he travelled the route written about by Thomas Coryate in the early 1600s. Tim Moore wanted his tour of Europe to be grand, so he travelled in an old Rolls Royce car. Tim Moore is regarded as being England's equivalent of the American writer Bill Bryson.

The correct title of the book that I mentioned is "Grand Tour : The European Adventure of a Continental Drifter" by Tim Moore. Published by St. Martin's Press. A Trade paper cover edition of the book is available now. (Or ask your public Library to buy the book).
