Johnnie Fox's or The Merry Ploughboys

We are traveling to Ireland in October for the marathon. We were told that we must go to Johnnie Fox's. But it seems a little far. Is The Merry Ploughboys the same kind of entertainment? Which is better?

We went to Johnnie Fox's pub 3 different times during out stay in Inverness. Loved all three nights. Each night had different types of music, but all were great. Music starts around 10:00, but you need to get there by 9:00 to get a good seat. I would recommend sitting to the right of the fireplace, across from the band stand. There, you can hear the music and see the dancing, and be out of the way a bit.

Although I don't believe the two are connected, I too recommend the Johnny Foxes in Inverness. If they are in any way alike, you will have a great time.
