Lost Luggage on Leonardo Express
I am in Rome now. This am as we were coming into town onthe Leonardo Express, I left my camera bag on the train. I haven't been able to make much headway on tracking it down. I am desparate for suggestions. Thanks Dave

According to the Trenitalia website, the lost property service has been temporarily discontinued as of June 13, 2009. Nevertheless, I suggest that you immediately go to Termini Station in Rome and enquire at the customer service desk, as well as at the Police Desk ("POLFER") which stands for "Polizia Ferroviaria"

Sorry to hear about that, especially since it's a Camera bag.
Given the fact that it was Rome, I suspect your chances of finding it are "slim" at best.

Hi, we are back home without the camera. I did file a report with the Rome Police and will try to make a claim on home owners policy. Learn from my mistake. Do not put anything in the overhead compartment unless you are putting everything in the overhead. We were tired, rushed and made a mistake. Oh well! As my brilliant wife has said, at least it was stolen at the start of the vacation rather than on the way home with all our pictures in it. Smart lady! I thought that you had left the camera bag behind. I didn't realize it was stolen. Rome and Romans get blame for a lot of things but I don't think you should blame someone for your carelessness.
I wasn't trying to blame anyone except myself. All I was trying was to get some help. If my tone implied otherwise, it simply reflected my desparation.
I've got to say I've read through your post several times and can't see anything that looks like you've blamed anyone but yourself. This is the one area where point-and-shoot "picture takers"like me have an advantage over good photographers. All my camera equipment drops down in the inside pocket of my day bag.It's so easy to make a mistake like this when you're overtired, though. Hope you got another camera while there and took lots of photos to remember what I hope was an otherwise great trip.
David did say that "at least it was stolen at the beginning of the vacation ...", which I think is what Frank was responding to. David left it behind on the train and someone found it and the rest is a mystery.
The next day we went to a camera store and bought a point and shoot. We have been enjoying out pictures since then. We had a lifetime of memories and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. Thanks for your comments. Dave
When we traveled especially with our two sons, we always know the exact number of thing we were carrying. AND Marcia insisted on having a "count" every time we moved from one place to another. And I mean a COUNT -- ONE, TWO, THREE.... Got some strange looks but we never left anything behind. Traveled with our son and new daughter-in-law a couple years ago and noticed that she was counting everything. But it happens, I left a good camera in the pocket of an airline seat many years ago. Someone forgot to count.
