Are shops/restaurants open on Santorini in May?
Hi-we are planning to visit Santorini in early May 2010 and stay for four nights in Oia. We will find most shops and restaurants open or is four nights way too long at that time of year? Thanks in advance-China.

The end of April and into May is normally a good time to be in Greece... especially on the Island of Santorini. The weather is starting to get warmer at that time in Greece and Santorini tends to be slightly warmer than mainland Greece. You will enjoy the island very much. It is a beautiful place to go most anytime of the year. Tourist crowds will be a less in May, if you like it less crowded, that would be a fine time to enjoy the island.
Hi Steve,
Thanks for getting back to me. I'm really glad to hear that and we're really looking forward to our visit.
Thanks again! China
Yes, the hotels, shops, galleries and restaurants will be open in early May. If you want some hotel recommendations for Oia state your maximum daily room budget in Euro.
4 days will go incredibly fast.
Should be a great time to visit! Shops and restaurants will be open, it will be warm, but not stifling, and the throngs of tourists will not be there yet. Oia is gorgeous, you will love it.
China - As the previous posters have noted , the answer to your question is Yes - I live there about 5 months a year and May is Fantastic. Be sure to check out my favorite - Galina Cafe - WOW - What views!!!
