House Rentals in Italy

We would like to rent a house in Italy for a few weeks in the summer of 2010. Any recommendations on reliable rental agencies? Any recommendations on areas? We're looking at Lucca or Orvietto.

You might want to take a look at Vacation Rentals by Owner and rent directly from the owner of the house, rather than an agency.

There are lots listed in both towns.

Tuscany Rent Direct is website specializing in vacation rentals in Tuscany, where you can search hundreds of homes and rent directly from the owners with no commissions or fees. Nice site with really useful maps and floor plans.

VRBO is the website you will want to check. I suggest a rural, country side rental, away from the city and rent a car to get around. Itay is car friendly. Get a GPS and a good map. Lucca is my pick...be sure to get a bike one day and ride around the city.

http://www.chianti-farm.com/info/contact_us/ I stayed at this villa outside Montevarchi, south of Florence in 2004. It was absolutely wonderful. The people are great and you can even 'rent' their cook to make an authentic Tuscan dinner for you out on the terrace. Not Lucca or Orvieto, but near a major motorway so it would give you easy access and their is a rail station in Montevarchi.

I rented a house in Tuscany. WOW it was like living in a beautiful landscape picture for a week. The house was perfect. The location was perfect. We stayed in the La Torre however all of the houses on this property are breath taking.

The owners really take care of you and have thought of ever detail when they stocked the house, it is very well supplied with first class all the way.
