Advice on accommodations needed please

I know this should be a no-brainer, but I'm having a hard time making a decision on our accommodations in London.

We "know" that we'd like to take in a show, check out Hyde Park in the evening, pop into some of the shops, and basically just enjoy December in London, with maybe one side trip out of London.

However, I do have a gluten intolerance problem (Celiac) so whenever possible, we rent an apartment. But, some of the apartments on VRBO that are around the touristy things are way over our budget, they require a much longer stay, or the more affordable ones are a bit outside.

Here are my options:

Stay at Marriott Hotel near Regent's square; friend can get me a corporate price of 99 GBP a night for fammily room.

Found one apartment in Camden town that's willing to rent for four nights 550 GBP.

Another apartment in Bromley for almost the same price.

I am not familiar with Bromley or Camden town so not sure how much of a hassle when we need to get to St. Pancras on the last day, or getting from Heathrow on the first day.

Like most on the board, we're working on a budget, would like a good night's sleep and pack in as much as we can in our short stay.

Would appreciate any advice/help.

Wow!!! £99 is a great price for the ****Marriott. Rooms there are usually £250+ a night.

I would stay near Kensington or Bayswater. Last spring I was at Kensington Gardens Hotel my best find back then, now they want £98.00 for a walk-up no elevator okay room.

Go for the Marriott!! Find some great reviews of the place at tripadvisor.com.

I see a triple room Steve, not a quad.

The lowest I found at Marriott for a quad room was 99 GBP. I read that this location (Regent) is not actually that close to the park, but it's still more central than the apts, right?

I also think that for the "Friends and Family" deal, I am limited to which Marriott I can stay at, and which has availability. They probably do like airlines and block off a certain number of rooms

That's why I said get the Marriott! A quad for £99 is a great price, my simple double is now ?£98.

You'll be 3.5 mi from Kensington Park, a fair hour walk, but easy by tube or taxi.

Read the reviews I linked to about the Marriott, they talk about how easy it is to get around, how great the neighborhood is and has maps and more about your hotel.

The Marriott is west and slightly north of Camden Town, making the apartment a little bit more central. Both are easily reached by tube from Heathrow with only one connection for either route. The Camden Town tube station is only one stop from the King's Cross/St Pancras tube station. If you stay in the apartment, you'll be very close to St Pancras International; but the ride from the Swiss Cottage tube station (closest to the Marriott) would take less than 20 minutes.

Thanks Steve, I didn't realise your reason for posting about the other hotel.

I called to make reservations at Marriott and they need a lot of information before making the "F&F" booking which makes sense. My friend also has to fill out a form which I must take to the hotel in London as proof otherwise we will be charged the regular rate! Not a lot of trouble for a better fare, right?

Steve, we booked! I heard back from the lady who owns the apartment in Camden and she wants $400 US deposit, money wired to Barclays in GBP etc., and I thought the hassles wasn't worth it for a kitchen.

The Brits have knocked themselves out with GF options, so I should manage. Thanks for the support, and thank you all for your help :-)
