FCO is outside the ATAC circle so yes, you will have to "pay" your way into town. You can buy the pass at the airport, though. But you also have to pay to take the Leonardo Express into Rome.

Find all the info at the Roma Pass site.

The Roma Pass for transport is good for:

Free admission to ATAC urban buses and trains, Underground lines A and B, Met.Ro trains: Roma - Lido, Roma - Viterbo (in the Roma - Sacrofano section), Roma - Pantano railways lines.

Hi Lynn,

We bought our Roma Pass at the TI as soon as we arrived at the Termini Train station from the airport--it worked out well for us!

Lynn,

If you are exiting the Arrivals Terminal AFTER 9 AM, then you can purchase the Roma Pass at a PIT (Tourist information booth) just down past the escalator to the train station. So follow the signs to the train station and keep going about 150 feet.

As Steve says, "NO GO" on using the Roma Pass from FCO (or CIA for that matter). The city has "positioned" the Pass so you stil have to pay for transport into Rome from either airport.

You can also buy the Roma Pass at Termini Station, many newstands, many PIT's (Tourist Info Booths), at many of the sites you will visit, and various other locations - so don't feel like you have to get it AT the Airport.

There are many options to come into Rome from FCO. You can ride the Leonardo Express for €11 into town, and ARRIVE AT TERMINI STATION. There you can get your Roma Pass, catch a taxi, use pulic transportation ( RIDE THE BUS or RIDE THE METRO), or even walk if your hotel is close enough!

You can also ride the more local, FR1 train into Trastevere or Ostiense stations if these are closer to your residence. They only cost €5.50. You'll have to buy your ticket at the FCO STATION.

Or, try the new €8 bus service by SITBus Shuttle. They go to Termini and Piazza Cavour.

Otherwise, you can use a taxi (€40 fixed price if your hotel is inside the Aurelian Walls)... or even book a private shuttle. So there are many options - unfortunately nothing covered by the ROMA PASS.

Good Luck!
