Vatican Museums Ticket Office

I have tried a number of times using several different credit cards to make a reservation for the Vatican Museums. Denied every time, and my credit card companies say they have not even been notified that a charge was attempted. Anyone else having problems? Any advice? Thanks

You don't need to make reservations. I was just there a week ago and my girlfriend and I walked right up to the counter and got tickets without much of a line. We payed cash.

Are you trying to book directly through the Vatican website? You shouldn't be having a problem with that. I don't recommend taking the Vatican's museum tour anyway. It's nothing more than a "forced march" through the Vatican hallways to reach your final destination of the Sistine Chapel. I recommend using an outside tour company such as Context Travel.

Yes, we were going to take the Vatican tour. But would be happy to hear who everyone else thinks is good. Thanks for the suggestion.

Does anyone know if the Vatican allows people to bring a tripod folding seat along on a tour. Walking and standing for 4 hours is a little intense.

Jip i took the Vatican museum tour last september, and thought it was a very good tour, i did not feel rushed at all, the guide was excellent and gave a very good explanation of Michalangelo's paintings at the beginning of the tour, since you have to be quiet in the Sistine chapel. I don't see why you could not take a tripod with you, i have to say it was very crowded and there is a lot of walking involved.

I've taken the tour twice, once was quite good and the other was a mad rush of tourists fighting each other to keep up with their guides. It's a crap shoot.

I did not have any problems, I just bought an admission ticket for 18 euros a piece and I already received my confirmation on line, just print and present. We go on Nov. 20th at 9:00.
