Julian alps slovenia
Good day all,
I am planning a trip to Slovenia from Nov 20 through Nov 30. My question concerns the driving tour through the mountains near Bled. Will the road and passes be open in late november for car traffic
Thanks Andrew

Probably not, it all depends on the snow. I was there in April this year and some passes were open, but the one I really wanted, the Soca pass, was still closed. The tourist office in Bled suggested we take a slight detour into Italy and back up into Slovenia (just a few extra km. west actually) for a great driving tour. And we still got to ride in the car on the railroad flat car through the long tunnel on our way back to Bled. It was a great drive (kinda harry, but fun!)
Best to check locally when you travel about weather conditions.
I was just there Oct 13-15. I don't think in late November it will be open. I got the sense that we were just under the wire in being able to see it. I think I read in the RS book that it typically closes in November.
In the event you do go...it is great, beautiful and worth the trip - but take dramamine!!! I got so car sick from the twisty roads.
We drove thur in early Oct and saw some snow. I would not plan on getting thur in Nov. To see pictures of our drive go to www.gadtravel.com
Which roads do you have in mind?
You can check traffic conditions at http://www.promet.si/portal/en/1traffic-conditions.aspx
At the moment Vrsic Pass is open but you need winter equipment - this means winter tyres, chains. Other roads are OK and there is no snow forecast for next week. If you need any more information, just let me know. Regards, Cilka from Bled
