Can I get a train from Brussels to Amiens without going to Paris

Yes, if you go via Lille. The types of trains you would take, the exact route, and the number of connections vary depending upon your departure time from Brussels.

For timetables go to www.bahn.de and click on the drop-down flag menu for English. Enter Brussels as your departure point and Amiens as your arrival point and click on the "Further options" link. Enter Lille in the "Via" field, ignore the stopover time field, and then do a search. After you get summary timetables for Brussels-Amiens, click on the arrow to the left of each departure time to see the connecting points.
