Istanbul to Lesvos

I am a female currently traveling alone in Greece and will be going to Istanbul for a few days. I am hoping to continue on my trip to Lesvos. I am having trouble finding a cost effective way to get there. Can anyone suggest something?

You have to take a bus from Istanbul to Ayvalik and a ferry the rest of the way to Lesvos.
