train from Girona Spain to Perpignan France

I'm going to Girona Spain tomorrow, on a last minute cheap flight, and would like to visit Perpignan for a day trip while I'm there, but I can't find any way of making the journey by train, except by going to Barcelona first.

It seems like there should be a way to get there from Girona. Any suggestions welcome!

According to the timetables at www.bahn.de, you can leave Girona at 09:02, connect in Cerbere, and arrive in Perpignan at 11:17. Go to the site and click on the drop-down flag menu for English. After you get summary timetables for Girona-Perpignan, click on the arrow to the left of each departure time to see the connecting points.

I think your problem is that the main Spanish rail website only shows long-distance trains, whereas Girona-Portbou is considered local.

Thanks Philip- I had tried renfe, the french rail site and even an English one, with no success- but the German site that Tim found is perfect. IMHO, he's a genius! Gotta go- plane leaves in a few hours and still have my last minute panicking to do.
