Haarlem netherlands

Can anyone give me some medium priced hotels in Haarlem to stay? I have steve ricks "best of europe" 2008 do I need to pick up the new "backdoor to europe" 2010 instead? I think staying in Haarlem looks more cozy instead of Amsterdam. There will be 3 to a room, All adults (mom and two 20 year olds). We are going in June, 2010. Thanks

I stayed in the Hotel Amadeus last summer, www.amadeus-hotel.com. On Saturdays, there is a market right out the front door and it is close to everything. Nice place to stay. I had thought the same thing too, that Haarlem would be better to stay in, but later stayed in Amsterdam in a quiet residential area and I would pick that over Haarlem if I was staying for any length of time.

Another vote for Hotel Amadeus. We were just there in early September. Great breakfast, great location and we really enjoyed returning to Haarlem in the evening after a long day in Amsterdam. It is more than worth the ten minute train ride.

Look for a link on Amadeu website for the B&B next door. We stayed in a triple there - nothing fancy but breakfast at Amadeus is included and the location can't be beat.

Thanks for the help!! I will look into that hotel and B&B place. I will also look into getting the book on the Netherlands.

We stayed at Joops Hotel in a nice, very spacious room in a building behind the main hotel which itself is behind the Grote Kerk. The not included breakfast was spendy. Another time we stayed at the Amadeus in a small, but adequate, room. If the prices are close to the same I'd go with the Joops.
