TRENITALIA FARES ??

Anyone knows the difference betewen the ADULT/STANDARD fare and the SMART fare in trenitalia?Trying to book a ticket from Bologna to Leoben(Austria)and the difference in price is pretty significant(69 euro against 29),but since it's an overnight train,i'm afraid that the SMART fare could be a standing room only,or sitting down but ...on the roof.lol.Anyone with knowledge, really appresciated.Couldn't find answers in the Trenitalia site, very conffusing.Thanks.

Reservations are required on this train so you wouldn't have to stand; but the fare you quoted is for a reclining seat, not a couchette bunk. More important, the Trenitalia site does not accept North American credit cards so you can't book this train online via Trenitalia.

I recommend that you book a couchette bunk. You'll sleep better and your luggage will be more secure. Couchette doors lock from the inside.

The SMART fare for a bunk in a 6-person couchette is 49 EUR. You can get the same fare by booking over the phone using the Austrian Rail call center and asking for a SparSchiene fare. Dial 011 (US international access code) + 43 (country code for Austria) + (0)5-1717. Omit the initial zero in parentheses. It is only used for calls originating in Austria.
