Diabetes in Prague
My husband and I are Americans who recently moved to Prague. We were able to find a teaching job and health insurance (through the school). However, we just found out that the insurance doesn't cover my husband's Diabetes. Literally, in our contract, it lists AIDS, self-inflicted injuries and Diabetes as items NOT covered by our company's health insurance policy. It's extremely expensive to buy his supplies (insulin, test strips, ect..) out-of-pocket. Plus, American companies don't want to cover customers with pre-existing conditions. Does anyone have suggestions of what we should do? He has emailed his suppliers (who have a branch in the Czech Republic) and he hasn't received any responses. Any advice would be wonderful!

Wow, that is awful that diabetes is not covered.
I too am a diabetic, could not get my own insurance because of preexisting conditions and wonder how to pay for my meds and test strips without insurance.
When I wasn't covered I've been able to buy on the internet through a Canadian pharmacy who import their drugs from Germany and India. Same stuff, just made for the overseas market and cheaper.
Drugs should also be cheaper in Prague than here in the states as well. You can also try this Indian supplier I have used successfully may times in the past http://www.betterlifepharmacy.com/ They ship by mail and prices are much lower than in the USA.
Thanks so much! We'll check out that website. I appreciate it :)
