credit cards
Big discussion on the "To the West" section of the helpline on magnetic strip credit cards vs. pin and chip visa cards. anyone know if the toll roads in czech. and hungary take the american visa cards without chips?. we have not run into tolls in austria and germany but wondering about those if they exist. we found in germany, austria and switz. just about any machine that takes a credit card, also take cash, hence my always carrying a least a hundred euros at all times.

If you think you may have problems with the automated toll machines, most toll plazas also have manned booths that you can use.
