Train from FCO to Trastevere

How is this train ride? I will be staying in a hotel about 10 min from this station.

The Leonardo Express runs from the airport to Rome Termini station.

You are probably talking about the the FR1 line (or FM1 line), which leaves FCO and serves the Trastevere, Ostiense, Tuscolana and Tiburtina stops, en route to Fara Sabina. It only costs about 5 Euro.

There are signs for the rail station. After you get your bags and go out on the street the pedestrian bridge above you to the right goes to the rail station. As you face the trains the one on the right goes to Termini the one on the left goes to Trastevere. You can buy your ticket at the airport rail station.

It runs every 15 minutes.

This is a regional train, there are 3-4 trains/hour, the ride takes 26 minutes, and the fare is only 5.50 EUR. What could be better?

Thanks for the help. I have been all over most of Europe but never to Rome.

Maybe it is quicker to go outside to find the station but it is easily reached by staying inside and following the signs. If there is a line at the ticket office or it is closed, on the opposite from the ticket office is a Tobacco shop, on the counter is a picture of the FR 1 ticket and a picture of the L Express ticket. Point to the one you want and hand his the money.

Thanks for that info. I will then have to get from the station to my hotel which is the Hotel Monteverde & Austria which is on Via di Monte Verde. One good thing I will arrive on Sunday at around 8 am.

Shouldn't be a problem since Tram 8 from the station should run right in front of the hotel -- I think. OOOOh !!!! --- and absolutely do not forget to VALIDATE your ticket in the little yellow box.

Frosty,

The method I used on my last trip to Rome (also staying in Trastevere) was to take the Leonardo Express to Roma Termini (~€11 per person - DON'T forget to validate your ticket in the yellow box) and then take a Taxi to the Hotel.

I found that to be a much easier method than using Trams or whatever. There are always Taxis available around Termini.

Happy Travels!
