Honeymoon Places to go in Winter

I am getting married this December and I am starting my honeymoon from Germany. I am going to be in Europe for 14 Days. I really want to know what all places I should visit for my honeymoon. Also I want recommendations where I can spend my New Year Night and Christmas

Just Germany, or are you thinking of going further, like Paris or Vienna?

What do you like to do? What kind of activities do you see yourself doing? Skiing, music, romantic evenings?

New Years in any of the European capitals would be a wonderful experience. Fireworks along the Thames in London, same in Paris and the Eiffel Tower and the Vienna Philharmonic (too late to get tickets, but you can watch in the park).

Check the "Plan Your Trip" link at the top, start exploring. When you have more specific questions, let us know.

Any day in Paris is a great day, but wanted to let you know that at least last year there were no fireworks on New Years Eve. I was positioned with a clear shot at the Eiffel Tower and there is no way I could have missed them.

I would still recommend Paris as a fantastic place to go on a honeymoon.

There are lots of marvelous choices. London is always amazing, Salzburg or Vienna are classics, and Scotland makes a surprizingly wonderful winter trip! Edinburgh has a great Hogmanay (New Years) celebration as do all Scottish cities/towns. Where are you starting in Germany? Austria would be a short train ride so Salzburgh or Vienna might make the best choice.

Too bad they didn't do the fireworks last New Years. At least they did the light show at midnight.

Of course the lights sparkle on the hour every night. One difference last year was the lights changed from blue to white. Apparently in 2008 the lights were blue because Sarkozy was the president of the EU or something like that.

Berlin for New Years Eve! Fireworks are legal for sale in Germany the few days before the end of the year, and every city sort of just explodes at midnight. I am always impressed by the quality of these too, they aren't just cherry bombs and sparklers. Just here in Frankfurt, it is constant fireworks for at least 30 minutes or more. Imagine Berlin is even more.

Being at the Brandenburg Gate should be a blast!

Jo, hope you were there last New Years, it looked great in this video. And we're so happy that the wall was torn down 20 years ago. Happy New Year!
