Dartmoor National Park

I leave for two weeks in Bath and London in a little over a week, and I'm debating renting a car one day while in Bath and potentially visiting Dartmoor National Park. Has anyone on the board visited Dartmoor? If you have, what did you think?

I'm trying to figure out if Dartmoor is a realistic day trip from Bath and if it is worth visiting in November or if I should wait until I have the chance to see it in the summer months when we will be more likely to hike and cycle in the park.

Plus it can get very misty/foggy in the late autumn/winter months. Certainly atmospheric but no good for views!

Its a 2.5 hour drive from Bath to Dartmoor and its dark by 16:30 If you also have the chance to visit in the summer, leave it until then.

Hello KG I agree, Dont go in the winter. Dartmoor is beautiful. but I would wait and go in the summer months when the days are longer and the chance of great views much higher. Dorchester is a nice town, Avebury and Taunton are also lovley with more to do as the days ar very short at this time of year. Bath is lovley, you will find plenty to do there. Try to Google Christmas markets/UK they csn be a lot of fun, though Im not sure when they start up. Enjoy your trip and have fun!

I have visited Dartmoor. It's a beautiful place. I also believe it was there that Rick decided to become a travel writer.
