Was in Florence this past July and rented an apt. through vrbo.com for 5 nights located not too far from the Pitti Palace. It was a great location and we could walk to most of the sights and there was a bus stop closeby too. There were 5 in our group and the apartment was so spacious with 3 bedrooms, living room, big kitchen and dining area. There was a laptop for our use, washing machine, and satellite t.v. Highly recommended! let me know if you want more details.

Chris, We just came back from Florence and fell in love with the city. We rented a beautiful apartment in a terrific area. The owner was extremely professional. I just can't say enough. Check it out for yourself. This is the link http://www.holiday-rentals.co.uk/p420459 There's this great little restaurant that one of the local artists to us about Bienbenutto. It's very close to the apartment. It was the best dinner we had in all two weeks in Italy.

That restaurant that Joseline recommends is probably actually "Trattoria da Benvenuto", near Piazza della Signoria in the historic center.

The fact that their website does NOT have an English option is a good sign that they are not touristy.

(A great RS tip is to always try to order one of the daily specials, rather than ordering off the menu.)
