Lake Como in November

Many hotels and attractions are closed but this is the only time we can travel with our daughter who is studying in Bologna. Is a visit this time of year a waste of time and money? We have found wonderful deals on hotels in Varenna and Menaggio. We cannot figure out if any of the shops will still be open. We are photographers so scenery is the main draw. Please offer any comments on travel to Lake Como in November.

We were there in December and it was wonderful. Far fewer tourists. Everything is open for the most part. Remember there are people that live there all the time. It even snowed on Christmas Eve.

I have not seen Como during the winter, but I can attest that there is often a haze (probably moisture related) during the summer and early fall...I bet that the air is crystal clear during November (at least when it is not raining)...and your pictures should benefit from the clarity.
