hotel or B&B suggestions for Venice?

Ciao, everyone! I'd love to have some feed back from you regarding hotel and B&B in Venice. I don't mind paying more for a better quality and convenient location. I will be in Venice before and after my cruise, about 3 -4 nights. Any suggestions?? Thank you in advance!

Locanda Orseolo.

This is a beautiful place, family owned and operated, just off of St. Marks Square. The accommodations are top notch with either a canal or courtyard view (less expensive). Their breakfast is to die for! And, you can watch the gondolas drift past as you eat. I would not think of staying anywhere else in Venice.

I would highly suggest the Dimora Marciana. This very nice hotel is located very close to St. Mark's square on a very quiet side street. The owners were very accomodating and helpful and the hotel is new.

Another vote for Locanda Orseolo. They treat you like family and Barabara makes the best crepes in the morning for breakfast.

My vote is for Ponte Chiodo 3749. Super comfy, quiet area, near the Ca'D'oro stop .

I really recommend Al Ponte Moceniga. It is one of the top rated on TripAdvisor and in a very quiet neighborhood.

Places we have stayed: 2002 Hotel Rialto on the Grand Canal near Rialto B. Not worth the $ and it was loud as the Rialto vaporetti stop was right below our window.

2005 Pensione Guerrato. Enjoyed our stay here would stay here again. Very close to the Rialto Market.

2007 & 2009 Rented apartments (apt. Bucintoro '07 and apt. Dodesona '09) through Hotel Campiello. Very nice apartments with big modern bathrooms and great location on a small square just off the Riva and a few minutes from San Marco. Love renting apartments.

We spent 2 nights at Hotel Riva in October 2009. http://www.hotelriva.it/ We found it in Rick's book. It was in a very good location, close to St. Mark's square. We mentioned Rick Steves when we made our reservation. Well worth paying the extra 10 Euros for a corner room looking out at the canals. It was so nice to come to this place after sightseeing with all the crowds. There was a lot to look at out the windows, day and night. You definitely knew you were in Venice! The owners were very nice . We talked to one American couple who had been on a cruise and then stayed on for two nights in a more expensive hotel close to Riva. They said their room was so small they could hardly turn around. We had plenty of room. We liked this hotel and would stay here again if we were to come back.

We've stayed twice at Ca Riccio in the Canneregio neighborhood of Venice. A five minute walk from St Marks, and near Fondamente Nove. Off the beaten path, away from the crowds. A very nice place run by very nice people. More like a small hotel than a B&B, only 90 euro a night. You can check it out at the B&B website www.cross-pollinate.com.

The Ca dei Dogi in Venice is a wonderful small hotel right next to San Marcos square and reasonably priced. The only problem is that because it is so popular, it is hard to get reservations there...if you book early, you should have no problems.
