Laundry in Spain

We will be hand washing while traveling in Spain, but intend to hit the machines (self-service or full-service) every week or so. Can anyone direct us to facilities in Barcelona Old City or Eixample; Santiago de Compostela; Madrid city center; Granada? I understand they are hard to find in Spain!

Not to hard if you have Rick Steves' Spain book with you. See this link for a limited preview.

There is a self-service close to Verdaguer Metro stop in Barcelona. Look at the directions for Hostal Hill and it is diagonally across the square, a couple of doors up from a restaurant on Carrer de Provenca.

We find it far easier to just ask the hotel. Will not be the first time that question is asked and they generally will have a good answer. We have never had problems finding places that are convenient.

My problem with asking for laundry services- they tend to send me to cleaners. It costs an arm and a leg to get clothes cleaned there. 8 Euro for pants, 5 or 6 Euro for shirts, etc. When you ask, be sure to say self service.

My husband and I found a place near the Prado in Madrid - right near our hotel (we stayed at Hostal Cervantes, on Calle de Cervantes. I think the laundry was at the T intersection of Calle de Cervantes and Calle de Leon)...I believe Rick Steves recommends it in his book. We dropped a full load of laundry there and picked it up 3 or so hours later and it was washed, dried and folded for us, and all for about 12 euros. Definietly worth every penny since we were able to continue exploring around Madrid while our laundry was being done for us.
