barcelona hotel
I am looking for a hotel in a good location, near metro and sights, nothing fancy but safe, clean and quiet. any recommendations?

We got our hotel on hotwire. We chose the "downtown-marina-las ramblas" area. It was a 4 star hotel for $129 per night. Hotel Barcelona Universal.
The hotel was beautiful and was is the perfect area!
We use hotwire all the time and have yet to be disapointed.
I stayed at the Hotel Jardi last May, and it was very affordable (i think we paid about 80 euros per night). It is about a block off of Las Ramblas near El Mercado and right in the Gothic quarter. I thought the location was ideal, and the hotel was very quaint and on a picturesque little square. The hotel staff was also very friendly and helpful, and they had free wi-fi in the lobby and breakfast room.

I loved this hotel and would stay here again if I were to ever go back to Barcelona (which I hope I do - it is a wonderful city!!!) Have fun!
