Hotels in Siena, Italy
Looking for hotels in town of Siena. Have found several, Hotel Duomo as listed in Rick's book, Hotel Athena. Does anyone have any experiences with these?

No experience with either of those, but have stayed at the Alma Domus--definitely not upscale, but very reasonable and a great view of the Duomo. I've found that it's hard to go wrong with Rick's recommendations.
Our family also stayed at the Alma Domus in Siena and loved it. It isn't fancy inside, sort of dorm-like institutional. But we had these amazing views from our iron balconies that were breathtaking. It is in such a wonderful old building, connected to the lovely Sanctuary of St. Catherine. It's a fabulous deal for 60 EUR a night. My 14 and 18 year old daughters really enjoyed staying in this place. The nuns in old fashioned habits at the front desk added even more character! In Italy, we really enjoyed staying in non-standard accomodations where the memorable aspects more than made up for the lack of traditional American hotel style luxury.
We stayed at the Hotel Duomo in November. Pretty rooms (larger than most) with balconies that had a view of the top of the Duomo. The staff was friendly and very helpful, and the breakfast was great. It's an easy walk to all the points of interest.
We loved it there (especially the evenings on the balcony) and will definitely stay there again.
Try this website. You will find pictures, lots of recommendations and no crowds due to the hotel being in Rick's books. You can map it for location based on close to train station, duomo, etc. Check out the rooms, breakfast, other details.
I've used this site everytime we visit Italy for a great place to stay...and it's always been great!
