Hi! We will be flying home from Rome at noon, May 16th and are looking for a hotel north of the airport so we don't need to travel far that morning? We'll be dropping off our rental car. Any suggestions for a convenient but fun place to end our two weeks in Italy? Thanks!

My usual advice is to stay in Central Rome the last night of your trip. You can drop the car in town and taxi to the airport that morning. Its about a 25 minute cab ride to FCO.
If you want to keep the car, stay at the very uninteresting Airport Hilton or the Hilton Garden Inn Rome Airport.
This question gets asked a lot, you can find more answers at Getting to Leonardo Da Vinci Airport (FCO) Early in the Morning
I agree with the previous post. You have a noon flight so there is plenty of time to get to the airport. Drop the car off on the 15th. Find a centrally located hotel with a rooftop breakfast room. When you check in, arrrange for a taxi for your morning departure. Then you can spend a wonderful last night in Italy, have breakfast with a memorable view, then take a taxi to the airport with time to spare. We did this with my parents (in their 70's) for a 10am flight and were fine. You will have plenty of time to rest on that flight back to the US. Also, the shopping at the Rome airport is quite good for last minute souvenirs.
