Budapest Airport - How would you rate it?

My husband and I were originally planning on flying out of the Munich airport(which we hear is wonderful) to return home to the U.S. from our trip this coming June, but we realized that would require a great deal of backtracking in our itinerary. We also aren't happy with the times of flights available to us on that particular day.

Therefore, we are now planning on flying home from Budapest. Does anyone have any experience with this airport? We have had horrible experiences with the Rome airport, and I was just curious how you would rate Budapest's?

Thanks so much!!

Flew out of it on DL in 2007 and it was fine--the problems were all at JFK. Is a first world airport.

We flew out of Budapest airport to get to Prague (it was much cheaper than taking the train - even with transportation cost to and from airports). The airport was easy to navigate and move through. They had a decent food court too (we had a lot of extra forints) but it was pricey. In your case I would totally just fly out of Budapest.

We flew out of Budapest to Heathrow and on to Newark. All on British Air. No problems.

Same story, easy airport, connected to town via Nyguati Station in Pest. Would definitely recommend.

Fine airport. But make sure you are at the correct terminal. seems we had Delta tickets being code shared with Malev Airlines. Well Malev flies out of one terminal, Delta lines you up at the other. Both within walking distance, but have time to so it.

I was actually surprised having free wireless internet at Budapest Airport.
