Florence - Pisa - Cinque Terre

We will be heading via train from Florence to Manarola. After the CT, we will be picking up a rental car (Avis - location yet TBD). Can anyone recommend when would be the most convenient time for a stopover in Pisa to sightsee? Would it be best on the way to Manarola on Tues, 6/2 or on the way out of Manarola to get rental car on Sat 6/5? We suspect that stopping in Pisa on the way to Manarola on Tuesday will be better (than on a Saturday) but wondering if it will be as convenient train wise? According to the train schedule, there appears to be regular service to/from Pisa/Manarola. Any thoughts? Grazie!

Kay - Tuesday will definitely be less crowded at Pisa and in June that can be big. In Cinque Terre please walk the trail from Manarola to Riomaggiore(lover's path) It is only about a mile long, relatively flat and paved, with a Cafe halfway for a cold drink(are you 21?) Ciao, Greg

Kay, perhaps you should also post this under the Italy section.

Hmmmm. Thanks. I didn't realize I'd posted in the wrong spot since I'm typically reading in the Boot.
