SIM card

I have an unlocked 8830 Blackberry that I want to take to Ireland. I have not activated it in the US. Do I need to or will it work when I buy a SIM card in Ireland?

Assuming it is a GSM phone, it will work when you buy a SIM card in Ireland.

Carolyn,

Cell phone shops are ubiquitious in the U.K. You should be able to easily buy a PAYG SIM when you arrive (there may even be a shop in the airport). You might want to research the different plans available with the cell networks in Ireland, especially if you're planning to use the data portion (E-mail, web surfing).

Be sure to check the Charger provided with your Blackberry to ensure it's designed for use from 100-240 VAC. A UK-style Plug Adapter will be needed.

Happy travels!

for peace of mind, test it before you go. Just ask a friend with ATT or T-mobile service to borrow their SIM for a minute. Put it in the phone, it should power up and work.
