logistics problem in Manchester

Hubby and I are going to Manchester for a convention. We're wanting to come early, take a train to Wales for him to do some genealogy research. But then, when we come back to Manchester on the train, we could take a taxi to the convention hotel or to the airport and catch a shuttle to the hotel. The problem is where to leave our luggage while we're gone -- we pack our "convention clothes" in a suitcase and each take a backpack/tote bag. We used to store the suitcase at airports, train stations, etc. but I understand now there are no lockers. I found something called "Left Luggage" at Picadilly station in Manchester, but don't know what that is. Any suggestions?

Many thanks!!

There is luggage storage is almost all large train stations and airports in the UK (and Europe). However for security reasons, many now just have Left Luggage, which is manned luggage storage instead of self service lockers.

So, Left Luggage is exactly what you are looking for. It will be more expensive than lockers, but almost always safer.

Left Luggage is a counter with a clerk to check your luggage and keep it for you. It is more costly than a locker, but worth the peace of security. When you arrive at a RR station or air terminal, ask where it is and you will have no problem.
